Four W-B Officers To Be Sworn In Friday

March 8, 2018

WILKES-BARRE — Mayor Tony George will swear in four new city police officers on Friday. The swearing-in ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in council chambers on the fourth floor of City Hall, 40 E. Market St., Wilkes-Barre, according to a press release from the Mayor’s Office. The new hires will bring the complement of officers employed by the city to 78, including police Chief Marcella Lendacky. There are 79 police positions budgeted for 2018, according to City Administrator Ted Wampole. The hires also are expected to help ease overtime in the police department, which exceeded its $224,600 overtime budget by 159 percent last year. — STEVE MOCARSKY
