Villanova Josh Hart to participate in the NBA Draft Combine

May 9, 2017 GMT

Villanova shooting guard Josh Hart is expected to attend the NBA Draft Combine at Quest Multisport Complex in Chicago on Thursday and Friday. Hart, a 6-foot-6, 215-pounder, is among the 67 players invited to attend the combine.

The camp features some of the top NBA Draft prospects such as Washington’s Markelle Fultz and Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox. The combine will give many of the players a chance to showcase their basketball skills. The prospects will be able to compete in five-one-five games, strength and agility skills.

Hart averaged 18.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals a game last season. He led Villanova to an impressive 32-4 overall record, which included a Big East regular season and conference championship.

He was named first-team All-American by The Associated Press. He garnered some terrific honors such as the Julius Erving Award, Big East Player of the Year and the Most Outstanding Player in the Big East tournament. Hart, a Silver Spring, Md. native, was named the Big 5 Player of the Year.

Hart is projected to go late in the second round of the draft according to a mock draft by NBADraft.net. In the website’s latest mock draft, Hart is listed as the No. 50 selection in the second round. That pick is owned by the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers have four picks in the second round (numbers 36, 39, 45, 50).

Hart could be a steal for the Sixers in the second round. He gives them a great outside shooter on the wing. Hart shot 50.1 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from three-point range. In addition, Hart was a clutch shooter for the Wildcats. He made several big shots during their 2015-16 NCAA championship season as well as this past season.

He would give the Sixers a consistent outside shooter. He can create his own shot. He’s also a good defender.

This camp is the first leg of the NBA Draft journey for many players. The NBA Draft Lottery will take place on May 16 during the conference finals. The NBA Draft will be held on June 22.
