Gonzaga-Ohio State: 3 keys to the Bulldogs’ 86-59 win
Gonzaga broke it open with an 11-0 spurt to close the first half. Rui Hachimura and Killian Tillie had layups and Josh Perkins connected on a 3-pointer as the Zags built a 44-31 lead at the break.
Offensive player of the game
Junior guard Josh Perkins, much like the Texas Southern game, fueled the offense with six 3-pointers and 20 points, all in the first 30 minutes. Perkins also added four assists.
Defensive player of the game
Gonzaga’s zone defense was the biggest key to shutting down the Buckeyes after their hot start. Senior forward Johnathan Williams was strong against OSU’s top scorer Keita Bates-Diop when Gonzaga played man-to-man. Bates-Diop didn’t have a field goal until 18:15 remained in the second half.
