Duke transfer Chase Jeter considering eight schools, including GU
Duke sophomore forward Chase Jeter’s preliminary list of transfer options includes Gonzaga and seven other schools.
Jeter, an ex-teammate of Zags’ freshman forward Zach Collins at Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas, announced his intention to transfer two weeks ago.
The 6-foot-10, 230-pound Jeter is looking at Arizona, Cal, Gonzaga, Oregon, San Diego State, UCLA, USC and Utah, according to ESPN.com’s Jeff Borzello.
Jeter hasn’t set his official visits. He would be required to sit out next season under NCAA transfer rules.
Jeter, No. 11 in ESPN.com’s Top 100 in 2015, played limited minutes in two seasons with the Blue Devils. He dealt with back and ankle injuries this season. He made six starts and played in 16 games. He averaged 2.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14.9 minutes per game.
He earned Academic All-ACC honors, which requires at least a 3.0 grade-point average.
Jeter played in 32 games as a freshman, averaging 1.9 points and 1.9 rebounds in 7.9 minutes.
The Las Vegas native averaged 16.2 points and 10.6 rebounds on Bishop Gorman’s 2015 state-championship team, earning McDonald’s All-American honors.
