Local Roundup: Powell, Fitzpatrick Pace Lunenburg
LUNENBURG -- Donovan Powell and Declan Fitzpatrick helped spark a potent offensive attack as the Lunenburg boys’ lacrosse team rolled past visiting Monty Tech, 16-3, on Friday.
Powell had six goals and three assists, while Fitzpatrick finished with two goals and six helpers. Dawson Powell and Chris Chow chipped in with two goals each for the Blue Knights (4-2), who will next face Oakmont Regional on Tuesday.
High school baseball
Patrick Forbes scored three runs and had one RBI, and teammate Jack Madden homored and drove in a pair of runs as Oakmont Regional (3-0) cruised to victory in the title game of the Taddeo Tournament at Stone Field in Gardner.
Narragansett pitcher Payton Manca struck out 14 in the consolation game of the Taddeo Tournament. Gardner falls to 0-3 on the young season.
Thomas Halliwell led Leominster (3-2) with three hits on the day.
North Middlesex 2
Andrew Ahlquist drove in three runs and Reed Parson had two RBIs for Nashoba Regional (2-1). Pat Aubuchon hit a double to lead North Middlesex (0-4).
High school softball
Grace Adams scored and drove in a run as Leominster (4-2) emerged with the hard-fought win. On the heels of Tuesday’s no-hitter, pitcher Liz Leger was once again solid in the circle for the Blue Devils.
Luke McConnell (2 goals), Matt Cunniffe (goal) and Aidan Lee (assist) led Nashoba Regional (3-2) in defeat. Ryan Kerr had three goals for Wachusett (3-1).
