Police locate what they believe is body of missing NY man
IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (AP) — Search crews believe they found the body of a 40-year-old man who went missing in a bay off of Lake Ontario.
Monroe County sheriff’s deputies using sonar to scour the bottom of Irondequoit Bay believe they found the body of Shawn Ross on Friday morning. The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle reports Ross went missing Thursday, and was last seen wading out about 50 feet from the shore.
The body was found about 45 feet off the shore. Chief Deputy Michael Fowler says Ross apparently entered the water to cool off and was last seen wading in the water on a sandbar.
Fowler says there’s a drastic drop-off in depth around the area where Ross went missing.
