$2.5M in Rhode Island sports betting revenue made last month
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The Rhode Island sportsbook made nearly 2 1/2 times more in sports betting revenue last month compared to the previous December, according to a lottery report.
A report released Monday shows sports betting revenue increased from $957,000 in December 2018 to $2.5 million in December 2019, WJAR-TV reported.
The permanent joint committee on state lottery said nearly $2 million of that revenue was generated by one game, in which the New England Patriots lost in an upset to the Miami Dolphins at the end of December.
State Rep. Bill O’Brien, who chairs the committee, said nearly $12 million has been generated in revenue since July 1, with the state collecting about $6 million.
