‘Y’ should reverse course

January 6, 2017

‘Y’ should reverse courseThe decision by the Bridgeport YMCA to eliminate service to adults is a disaster to the citizens of Bridgeport. The decision removes another strong community that binds men and women of all races, creeds and ethnic background.Further, the way the ‘Y’ leadership made its choice is both insulting to the loyalty of its members and a sign of hopelessness in the face of challenge. Community people, including elected city and state leaders, should at first have been notified. There must be a way to reverse the direction chosen. Let all like-minded people of Bridgeport come together to seek ways to keep the Y open both to youth and adults. The Rev. John W.
