Watch out for added traffic during extracurricular activities

NORFOLK - With school back in session, many students are taking part in extracurricular activities.

Nebraska State Patrol Troop B Trooper Gena Jones says you need to be aware of added traffic, especially younger drivers for those activities.

“We have kids staying after school to practice, some come back to practice, and some even come in before school to practice so we have some early morning driving when kids are still tired. Also in the evening we have late driving especially if there’s an away game” Jones said.

She says use defensive driving skills when out around the schools, and if you know there’s going to be added traffic it may be best to take a different route.
