Dracut Birthday Celebration

DRACUT -- The Open Space Committee will be celebrating Dracut’s 318th birthday on Feb. 23 at the Proprietor’s Way trail.

Those interested in attending are asked to meet at 10 a.m. that Saturday near the maintenance shed at the back of the Four Oaks Country Club parking lot, according to a notice on the town’s Facebook page.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome and participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Accepting coat donations

LOWELL -- The last day to donate to Anton’s Cleaner’s Coats for Kids is Sunday, Jan. 6. The 24th annual coat drive benefits children and adults in need.

The donated winter coats are cleaned at Anton’s free of charge and then distributed to local nonprofit and social service agencies and organizations. All sizes welcome, especially extra large, infant and pre-K sizes.

Coats with tears, broken zippers or permanent stains will not be accepted.

All 42 Anton’s Cleaners, six Jordan’s Furniture stores and 23 Enterprise Bank branches are accepting donations. Anton’s has locations in Billerica, Chelmsford, Lowell, Westford and Wilmington.

Wilmington hockey fundraiser

BURLINGTON -- The Buffalo Wild Wings located at 15 South Ave. in Burlington is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Wilmington Youth Hockey Association.

On Monday, Feb. 11, 20 percent of customers’ bills will be donated to Wilmington Youth Hockey.


Varnum Award nominations

DRACUT -- Varnum Day Award nomination forms are being accepted until Jan. 18 at noon, according to a notice on the town of Dracut’s Facebook page.

The annual award is given to a town resident who exemplifies the civic and patriotic spirit of Joseph Bradley Varnum through his or her volunteerism to the Dracut community or demonstration of love of country through military service, according to the form.

Nomination forms can be found at www.dracutma.gov or by contacting the Board of Selectmens’ Office at 978-452-1908. Nominations may be made for either living or deceased members of the community.
