SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) — A would-be robber was killed and a liquor store owner was wounded in a shootout at the shop north of Los Angeles, authorities said.

Video obtained by KTLA-TV shows deputies approaching the store with guns drawn as the owner crawls out of the business and collapses on the sidewalk while clutching his leg.

The gun battle occurred during an attempted armed robbery Sunday night in Santa Clarita, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Both the shopkeeper and the robber were hit by gunfire, officials said. The robber died at the scene.

The shopkeeper was being treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s department said.

Neither man was identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
