Man’s body found in backyard of Spokane County home
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man after deputies found his body in the backyard of an eastern Spokane County home.
A caller told deputies late Sunday morning there was a car with a door left open in the driveway of a home on the 2800 block of South Park Lane, near Iller Creek Conservation Area, for two days and the garage door was open. The caller said an older homeowner who cares for a younger, disabled adult lived in the home.
Deputies found a nonverbal, vulnerable adult in a basement bedroom of the home, and a man dead in the backyard, according to a news release. The vulnerable adult was given medical care at the scene and transported to the hospital. According to the release, he was still in the hospital Sunday because he is unable to care for himself.
When deputies knocked on the door, no one answered, but they saw the interior of the home was in disarray.
According to the release, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death and does not believe there is any pending danger to the community stemming from the incident.
