Clemson cornerback Adrian Baker reportedly set to transfer

Following a season that never saw him take the field, Clemson cornerback Adrian Baker has reportedly elected to transfer from the program.

According to reports, the redshirt junior — who is set to graduate from the university in the spring — will play his final year of eligibility elsewhere as a graduate transfer come time for the 2017 season. Baker tore his ACL early into spring practice of 2016 and did not take a snap during the Tigers’ national-championship winning season.

A redshirt during the 2013 season, Baker is eligible to play at another program despite his senior status in the classroom. He hails from Hallandale, Fla., and registered 15 tackles and two interceptions through 13 games in 2015. Baker came to Clemson ranked the No. 197 player overall by ESPN in his class.

Heading into spring camp, the Tigers are expected to return first-string cornerback Ryan Carter, who will be a redshirt senior. Clemson loses Cordrea Tankersley to the NFL Draft, but gains two highly-touted recruits at the position in recent signees A.J. Terrell and LeAnthony Williams Jr.
