NU, Bentley to Face UML
LOWELL -- Two opponents stand in UMass Lowell’s ways this weekend
On Friday, the River Hawks (2-2) will host Northeastern (2-2) in UML’s first Hockey East meeting of the season. It will be the 118th meeting between the schools -- the River Hawks hold a 61-46-10 advantage.
Last season’s Hobey Baker winner, Adam Gaudette, is in the pro ranks, but Northeastern returns plenty of talent from an NCAA Tournament team. Puck drop is 7:15 p.m. at the Tsongas Center.
On Saturday, Bentley will host UML for the first time in Waltham at Bentley Arena. It will only be the seventh meeting between the programs.
The River Hawks lead 5-1, though Bentley upset the River Hawks last season in overtime in Lowell. Game time is 7 p.m.
It will be at least the 92nd rink UML has played at in its history.
UML is coming off a weekend in Oxford, Ohio in which it held Miami scoreless for five of the six periods, though the River Hawks were forced to split when the hosts scored twice in the third period Saturday for a 2-1 victory.
Junior goaltender Tyler Wall has been superb in three starts this season. He’s 2-1 with a 1.00 goals against average and .968 save percentage.
