Virginia woman charged in hit-and-run accident
WESTPORT — An Arlington, Va., woman was charged with a DUI and evading responsibility in Westport.
On Dec. 27 around 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched on report of a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of a local restaurant. A witness provided police with a description of the suspect car, and police received multiple calls of erratic driving by the same car as in the description, according to a police report.
One person who complained about the erratic driver followed the car into Norwalk, and Norwalk police located the car in a ditch on Cottonwood Chase Road.
Police arrived on the scene and spoke to the driver, identified as 30-year-old Mary Baker. While speaking with Barker, officers detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath and asked Baker to perform sobriety tests, which she failed, police said.
Baker was arrested, transported to police headquarters, and released after posting $500 bond. She is scheduled to appear at state Superior Court of Norwalk on Jan. 3.
