Inflatable race brings new element to 5Ks
hey reached a volcano’s summit, scaled a castle’s walls and powered through a cavernous obstacle course — many with children in tow.
That’s the idea behind the Great Inflatable Race, event manager Andrew “A.J.” Secrest said. It’s about getting families moving, even those that have never done a 5K before.
“We’re all about families getting out, getting together, and having fun while they’re being active,” he said. “We’re also trying to help people in Brownsville see everything (this) park has to offer.”
On Saturday, about 850 people headed to the Brownsville Sports Park to take part in a run that features 10 inflatable obstacles along the route. A portion of proceeds was to benefit Race for Hope, which supports the National Brain Tumor Society.
