Fire agency investigates employees after possible overdoses
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California fire department is investigating potential misconduct by employees after four people were treated for possible drug overdoses at an out-of-town party.
Long Beach fire Capt. Jack Crabtree tells the Press-Telegram the department has been made aware of a “situation” regarding some employees in Santa Barbara last weekend.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded early Sunday to a report of a man and a woman not breathing at a residence rented for a post-wedding celebration.
The office says the two had symptoms of an opiate drug overdose and while deputies were there another man and woman displayed symptoms. Paramedics administered an antidote and all were hospitalized.
The office says all four were from Long Beach and are believed to have snorted a white powder.
