Veterans to be honored for sacrifices at parade and ceremony in Huntington today
HUNTINGTON — Those who served in the Armed Forces will be honored for their sacrifices with a Veterans Day parade and ceremony in Huntington today.
The Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District and the Veterans Committee for Civic Improvement will host the annual event featuring keynote speaker Maj. Gen. James Hoyer, West Virginia’s adjutant general and head of the state’s National Guard. The ceremony will include remarks from various community leaders and announcements and awards from local organizations.
Parade lineup will begin at 9 a.m. at the gazebo on 14th Street West in Old Central City. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and proceed to Huntington’s Veterans Memorial Arch, near the intersection of 11th Avenue and Memorial Boulevard. The Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.
