MARTHA ELEMENTARY SERVICE LEARNING PROJECT: Students at Martha Elementary are raising money to help Bridge Clendenin Elementary recover from the 2016 floods. The students designed individual quilt blocks of West Virginia symbols, which were then quilted into seven quilts by local award-winning quilter Wilanna Wales. Students are selling chances to win the quilts, $5 for one chance; $10 for three chances; $20 for 10 chances; $50 for 30 chances; and $100 for 100 chances. SUMMIT RV TOY DRIVE: Summit RV, 6611 U.S. 60, Ashland, hosts a toy drive to benefit the kids of CASA of Northeastern Kentucky (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children). The toy drive runs Nov. 24 through Dec. 15. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to Summit RV with the goal of filling a “toy” hauler TV with Christmas gifts for kids. WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA: Members of the community have until Nov. 27 to sponsor wreaths to honor and remember fallen soldiers at the Wreaths Across America Ceremony, set for noon Dec. 16 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington. Volunteers also are needed to lay the wreaths of the veterans’ graves. The ceremony is open to the public.
