2 men arrested, nearly 150 pounds of pot seized in I-80 stop near York
Two men have been arrested and nearly 150 pounds of marijuana have been seized after authorities stopped a minivan on Interstate 80 near York.
About 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Nebraska State Patrol said, a trooper stopped an eastbound 2017 Dodge Caravan near the York interchange for failing to signal. The patrol said the trooper spotted a vacuum-sealed bag of marijuana inside the van.
Troopers and deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office searched the vehicle and discovered 149 pounds of pot with an estimated street value of $447,000.
A 56-year-old Florida man and a 53-year-old Jamaican man were arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana of more than 1 pound, possession with intent to deliver and failure to have a drug tax stamp.
They were being held in the York County Jail.
