Rep. Adam Schiff: Erik Prince not telling the truth about testimony to House intel committee

March 10, 2019

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff says that former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince did not disclose a meeting he attended at Trump Tower during the presidential campaign in his testimony to the committee contrary to recent comments from Mr. Prince.

Hes certainly not telling the truth in that interview, Mr. Schiff, California Democrat, said Sunday on NBCs Meet the Press. He did not disclose that meeting to our committee.

Mr. Prince recently acknowledged in an interview with Al Jazeera that he was at the meeting and that they were there to talk Iran policy.

He said he did disclose the meeting in his testimony to Mr. Schiffs committee.

I dont know if they got the transcript wrong, Mr. Prince said.

The New York Times reported last year that others at the meeting included Donald Trump Jr., the presidents eldest son; George Nader, an emissary to leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates; and Joel Zamel, a social media specialist.

Mr. Schiff said the interview certainly looks inconsistent with Mr. Princes testimony and that there was nothing wrong with the transcript.

[Special counsel] Bob Mueller has that testimony already, and Bob Mueller will have to make the decision about whether that rises to the level of deliberate falsehood, Mr. Schiff said.

But we had questions at the time of his testimony about his candor and how forthcoming he was, and those questions have only been heightened now, he added. Clearly, this meeting at Trump Tower with these players was of direct interest to our committee. So why conceal it?
