He possessed a kind, compassionate and loving soul and wanted to help everyone in need. He was intelligent, inquisitive, fun-loving, and loved to listen and sing to music. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. Caleb was the son of Ryan and Kristy Smith Ray of Ranger, W.Va., and was a big brother to Maggie Dale. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dale Smith. He is survived by grandparents, David (Teresa) Ray of Huntington and Teresa (John) Whitlock of Lake Orion, Mich. He could always be found smiling and striking up a conversation at the local grocery store on his bicycle or in his 2nd grade classroom. He wanted to be a doctor or an archaeologist when he grew up. Caleb’s unexpected passing has left his family and community grieving. He was our angel that gained his wings early, and he will forever be missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family. They will be used to fund future awareness and intervention of Caleb’s medical condition. Service will be 4 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2018, at McGhee Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, W.Va., with Ken Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery, Ranger, W.Va.
