Pirates use sac flies to beat Minford 2-0

WHEELERSBURG, Ohio - Wheelersburg defeated Minford 2-0 to avenge a loss to the Falcons earlier this week in high school baseball.

Cole Ratcliff drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Will Darling’s sacrifice fly in the third set the score.

Jalen Miller threw a two-hit shutout. Elijah Vogelsong allowed just four hits in the loss.

SOUTH POINT 4, COAL GROVE 3: Ben Walls went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Pointers (6-4 overall, 3-2 OVC) by the Hornets. Drake McClure went 2-for-2. Brody Blackwell earned the win. Brady Doyle was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for Coal Grove (3-6, 1-4).

EASTERN-MEIGS 30, SOUTH GALLIA 1: The Eagles (9-0 overall, 7-0 Tri-Valley Conference) scored 15 runs in the second inning in a rout of the Rebels in Mercerville, Ohio.

WAHAMA 8, WATERFORD 1: David Hendrick and Ethyn Barnitz each went 2-for-3 and Cooper Peters drove in three as the White Falcons (12-3) beat the Wildcats in Mason, West Virginia.

RIPLEY 9, POINT PLEASANT 8: The Vikings scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to secure a win over the Big Blacks. Dane Peterson was the winning pitcher.

WINFIELD 7, CHAPMANVILLE 2: Landen Fairchild scattered seven hits and allowed two runs while striking out six in a complete game to help the Generals to a home win. Sam Ingram and Hunter Morris each drove in two runs. Conner Mullins doubled in a run for the Tigers and Evan Plumley went 2-for-3.


IRONTON 10, PORTSMOUTH 0: Mary Beth Burton pitched a two-hitter and struck out six as the Fighting Tigers (9-1) strengthened their hold on first place in the Ohio Valley Conference, improving to 5-0 in the league. Keegan Moore went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

POINT PLEASANT 6, RIPLEY 1: Rylee Cochran drove in four runs to lead the visiting Big Blacks (12-2) to a triumph over the Vikings. Madilyn Keefer was the winning pitcher.

WAHAMA 9, WATERFORD 1: The White Falcons (16-1) won their 12th straight with a victory over the visiting Wildcats.Hannah Rose struck out four and walked none in earning the victory. She also went 4-for-4 with three doubles, three runs scored and a RBI.

SCIOTOVILLE EAST 12, IRONTON ST. JOE 8: Alli Escamilla went 2-for-4 with four RBI to lift the Tartans over the Flyers.
