Police agencies target illegal street racing in Reno area
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno-area law enforcement agencies issued dozens of citations and made four arrests during a crackdown on illegal street racing.
The Reno Police Department says the Sparks Police Department, the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, the University of Nevada Reno Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office also participated in the joint operation Friday night.
Reno police said in a statement that the operation stemmed from community and law enforcement concerns “related to the dangers and nuisances related to illegal street racing.”
According to the statement, law enforcement agencies will continue to conduct similar operations and have already seen a decrease in illegal street racing activity.
