Ro Khanna: AG William Barr’s review of Russia probe origins ‘a total distraction’
Rep. Ro Khanna said Tuesday Attorney General William P. Barr’s inquiry into the origins of the Russia investigation is “a total distraction.”
“If they want to do a review, they can do a review, but it’s a total distraction,” the California Democrat said on CNN’s “At This Hour” show.
“The investigation had nothing to do with the [Steele] dossier, it frankly had nothing to do with the Trump campaign. It was on actionable intelligence from foreign ambassadors concerned that our democracy was under threat from former interference. And guess? They turned out to be correct,” he said.
When asked if he thought this was a “purely political” move, Mr. Khanna agreed and said special counsel Robert Mueller needs to testify to “tell the facts and let the American people know the gravity of the interference that took place,” he said.
Mr. Barr selected Connecticut U.S. Attorney John H. Durman to examine the origins of the Russian election-interference probe, according to reports late Monday.
