Lady ’Stangs win three
NEEDLES – Three games and three wins for the Needles High School Lady ’Stangs as they beat non-conference Williams High School 11-8, and NIAA 2A South League Lake Mead Lady Eagles 14-0 and 19-4.
The first game was in Williams on April 23.
The Lady ’Stangs took a little time to rest and get ready for their league doubleheader against the Lady Eagles, played April 26 on Nikki Bunch Field. It was the Lady ’Stangs’ Senior Day game.
When the second inning ended Needles was up 5-0 against the Lady Eagles. Lake Mead was having trouble getting any hits on pitcher Paige Murch, who had about nine strikeouts in the game.
The Lady ’Stangs played great defense behind Murch as they were able to get a couple of Lake Mead players out at first after they hit a ground ball.
Needles’ bats stayed hot during the game and in the third inning they put up three runs against the Lady Eagles. Lake Mead tried to answer back but went three up three down.
The Lady ’Stangs put up another four runs in the fourth to make the score 12-0 in the game.
When the Lady Eagles came to the plate Murch struck all three of the batters out.
In the final inning, the Lady ’Stangs scored two more runs to make the final score 14-0 and win the first game of the doubleheader.
When the last out was called both teams regrouped and took a break to get rehydrated and get ready for their second game.
In the second game, the Lady ’Stangs picked up right where they left off as they scored 19 runs in the game. This time, however, the Lady Eagles were able to put up four runs on the Lady ’Stangs but couldn’t get anymore.
The last regular season game for the Lady ’Stangs is against the Mountain View Lady Saints in Las Vegas May 3, starting at 1 and 3 p.m.
