Emory University names new dean of law school
ATLANTA (AP) — Emory University has a new leader for its law school.
The university Thursday announced Mary Anne Bobinski as dean starting in August. She becomes the first woman to hold the position since the school’s founding in 1916.
Bobinski is currently a professor at the Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia, Canada, where she also served as dean from 2003 to 2015.
Emory President Claire E. Sterk says Bobinski is a nationally recognized scholar in health law and “leads with an eye toward the impact lawyers can have on society.”
Bobinski will fill the post vacated by Robert Shapiro in 2017. She received her master of law degree from Harvard Law School and holds a juris doctorate and bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
