Casalino of Innis Arden in 2nd place after two rounds of Met PGA Professional Championship
Anthony Casalino of Innis Arden Golf Club in Greenwich is in second place after two rounds of the Met PGA Professional Championship held at both Fairview Country Club and Golf Club of Purchase, N.Y.
Casalino shot a 67 in Monday’s opening round, then carded a 72 Tuesday and is 5-under-par 139 for the tournament. Rob Labritz of GlenArbor Golf Club, who has qualified for the PGA Championship five times, is the leader after two rounds of action with a 10-under-par 134.
The field of more than 150 competitors was cut to the lowest 60 plus ties on Tuesday. The third and final round takes place Wednesday at Golf Club of Purchase in Purchase, N.Y.
Casalino’s second round at Golf Club of Purchase included one eagle and two birdies. His eagle came on the par-5 seventh hole. He birdied the par-5 12th hole and the par-3 14th hole. Ben Polland of Deepdale Golf Club is in a third-place tie with Carl Alexander (Golf Club of Purchase), Tyler Jaramillo (Saint Andrew’s Golf Club) and Sean Quinlivan (Piping Rock Club) at 4-under-par 140.
Shaun Powers of Fairview (149 through two rounds), Todd Larson (Round Hill Club, 150) and Husband Kimmel (Tamarack Country Club 151) were among the players hailing from Greenwich-based clubs that made the cut.
Cory Muller of Country Club of Darien shot a 74 in the first round and a 72 in the second and is at 2-over 146.
