New 8-acre retail development planned on Townsen Boulevard in Humble
A new 8-acre plaza is under construction behind Costco Wholesale on Townsen Boulevard in Humble and is expected to open the first quarter of 2019.
Hunington Properties, Inc. New Retail Development Director Stephen Pheigaru said the plaza would be a good fit in the Townsen area to meet the needs of current and future residents in the developing area.
“There’s the new Costco and the Main Event and the developer that sold us the land is going to be building some single family residential homes over there and future offices that will be down the road,” Pheigaru said.
Hunington Properties commercial development will consist of two phases — two 15,000 square feet shopping centers with four pad sites in between.
“In the Phase I (and Phase II) we can have anywhere from four to eight tenants,” Pheigaru said. “
The development was originally scheduled for completion in July but got delayed due to Hurricane Harvey.
Pheigaru expects to have a ground breaking ceremony in July and will now start pre-leasing.
“We’re in talks with a couple of smaller casual restaurants to go in there and a couple of service oriented users that compliments some of the Costco customers,” Pheigaru said.
The business will be aided by the $3.4 million expansion of Townsen Boulevard, he said. At completion, the thoroughfare will be expanded to four lanes with a traffic stop light and median cuts.
Construction should be completed before the end of the summer, Humble city officials said.
“The county is expanding the road to four lanes and they’re expanding it all the way from (Highway) 59/69 all the way down to (FM) 1960,” Pheigaru said.
Hunington Properties also has a development in Atascocita on Will Clayton Parkway. Currently Orangetheory Fitness and Main Squeeze Juice Company have signed on
The Atascocita development is scheduled to open in September.
