North Augusta man charged in sexual assault of young girl
A North Augusta man was charged Tuesday with the sexual assault of a female juvenile. The assault occurred in 2017 and 2018.
Jose Sixto Saenz-Ramos, 61, of Gardenia Court, is charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, victim under 11 years of age, and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, commit/attempt lewd act, according to jail records.
On Aug. 5, 2018, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies met with a 34-year-old North Augusta woman who believed her daughter had been sexually assaulted by the suspect, according to the report.
The complainant told investigators she had located a blue notebook which had writings by her daughter inside talking about the suspect sexually assaulting her and another female juvenile, the report states.
The notebook was taken into evidence for further investigation.
Investigators reported they believe two juveniles were assaulted by the suspect who were 7 years old and 14 years old at the time of the report. No warrants have been issued against Sanez-Ramos related to the 14-year-old.
Police believe Sanez-Ramos engaged in sexually battery with the 7-year-old victim sometime between April 1, 2017, and Aug. 31, 2018, according to the arrest warrants.
Following an investigation, Sanez-Ramos was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Aiken County detention center, where he was still being held Wednesday afternoon.
