WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder even as police continue to search for the alleged victim’s body, Wichita police said Tuesday.

Jeffrey Hill, 53, of Wichita, was arrested Monday and booked into jail on possible charges of second-degree murder, possession of methamphetamine with intent, possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest, KAKE-TV reported.

Capt. Brent Allred said a man reported to police that Hill was involved in a homicide in December and the victim’s body was buried somewhere outside of Wichita.

Investigators determined the victim was Jeffrey Jones, 50, of Hutchinson, Allred said. Evidence and witnesses led police to Hill.

Hill was arrested after a brief foot chase when he fled from his vehicle Monday. Officers found drugs in his vehicle, police said.

Hill and Jones were acquaintances and police are trying to determine a possible motive, Allred said.
