Shaffer, Williams state Senate debate to be streamed online
A debate between two North Hills state Senate candidates will be streamed live online.
Democrat Lindsey Williams and Republican Jeremy Shaffer are scheduled to participate in a candidate forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the CCAC North Campus on Perry Highway in McCandless.
They are vying to fill the 38th state Senate district seat now held by state Sen. Randy Vulakovich. Shaffer defeated Vulakovich in the primary.
The debate will be live-streamed on the league’s Facebook page. It will also be available there for viewing later, said Judy Clack, voter services chair for the league.
The 38th state Senate district covers much of northern Allegheny County. It includes wards 11 and 12 in the city of Pittsburgh; the townships of East Deer, Fawn, Frazer, Hampton, Harmar, Harrison, Indiana, Marshall, McCandless, O’Hara, Pine, Richland, Ross, Shaler, Springdale and West Deer; and the boroughs of Aspinwall, Blawnox, Brackenridge, Bradford Woods, Cheswick, Etna, Fox Chapel, Franklin Park, Millvale, Springdale, Tarentum and West View.
