n Idaho State Journal’s Readers Choice event will be today at 6 p.m. at the Shoshone Bannock Hotel and Event Center.

n Heartland Film Festival winner “Lean on Pete” will be shown today at 5 and 7:30 p.m. in the Bengal Theater. Based on the best-selling novel, Charley Thompson struggles to find his place in the world until he begins working for a race horse owner and he meets thoroughbred Lean on Pete. But when the owner decides to sell Pete, Charley takes the horse and goes on a cross-country excursion to find a place for them both. n Geneva Jensen Borrowman will celebrate her 100th birthday today from noon to 3 p.m. at Rosewood Event Center, 1499 Bannock Highway in Pocatello. Light refreshments of birthday cake and ice cream will be provided. No gifts. Friends are welcome to attend.

n An multi-family adoption fundraiser yard sale will be held on Friday and Saturday at 1787 Satterfield Drive in Pocatello from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come out and support the Mayer family’s adoption and pick up some great bargains. All the money raised at the yard sale will go to helping bring home Mattalyn and Dauda home from Africa.

n The Palace Playhouse will present “Annie” the musical today and Saturday with dinner at 6:15 p.m. and showtime at 7 p.m. The Palace Playhouse is at 158 E. Chubbuck Road. n The Westside Players will present “Chiller Double Feature” today and Saturday at The Warehouse, 1009 S. Second Ave. in Pocatello. Dinner and show is $35 per person. Show only is $17 or $10 for students. n The Pocatello Model Railroad and Historical Society will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in UPRR brick building 59 south of the UPRR depot and just north of the Benton Overpass.

The fourth annual Stoddard Farms 5K and Farm Day in Grace is set to take place on Saturday, and organizers are encouraging the public to attend. They say the event is educational, entertaining and affordable for families. With the purchase of a $2 wristband, visitors can also experience bounce houses, tractor rides, a trout pond and a kiddie carnival with prizes galore. Lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The day will begin with a 5K Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. Registration will also be available the day of the race beginning at 7:45 a.m. The Farm Day and 5K will take place on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1986 One Mile Road in Grace.
