ECU brings back Kirk Doll as 10th football assistant

December 15, 2017

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — East Carolina is bringing back former assistant Kirk Doll as its 10th on-field assistant.

Coach Scottie Montgomery said Friday that Doll will take over as special teams coordinator on Jan. 9, when schools may add the additional assistant.

Doll coached the Pirates’ special teams and running backs from 2012-15 under former coach Ruffin McNeill.

He played defensive end for East Carolina in the early 1970s before starting a coaching career that included stints with LSU, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and the Denver Broncos.
