Building partially collapses in Guyandotte area
HUNTINGTON — The Huntington Fire Department and Huntington city officials responded to a partial building collapse that occurred around 3 p.m. Thursday on the corner of Buffington Street and Oak Street in the Guyandotte neighborhood.
One person was in an apartment that is attached to the building, but the portion that collapsed was used for storage by the owner. HFD officials said the collapsed portion went into the first floor of the building and will likely have to be torn down, pending an evaluation by a structural engineer.
The tenant was advised to stay out of her apartment while it is properly evaluated.
The apartment portion is an addition to the original structure.
