Kuehl passes cousin Peplinski atop Husty’s all-time scoring list; Falcons rout Williams Bay
HUSTISFORD -- Senior guard Justin Kuehl broke Hustisford’s previous all-time scoring mark when he scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Falcons to an 80-27 thrashing of Williams Bay in a nonconference boys basketball game at the Falcons’ Nest on Friday.
Kuehl, who had an early dunk to fire up the crowd, needed just two points to surpass the previous mark set last year by his older cousin, Julia Peplinski. The old record was 1,688 points. Kuehl now has 1,716 career points. Peplinski was on hand to present Kuehl with a basketball to commemorate the milestone.
“He came out ready and got the honor,” Hustisford boys basketball coach Jake Falkenthal said. “The rest of the guys were ready, too. We opened the game on a 19-0 run. Our defense set the tone, allowing us to score.”
Kuehl added three steals and three assists. Junior point guard Dylan Schmitt added 18 points. Junior forward Zach Kehl led the Falcons on the boards with six rebounds.
Hustisford improved to 7-0 while Williams Bay slipped to 2-5.
The Falcons travel to face Pardeeville next Friday.
