Man walking on Heber City highway is killed by tanker truck
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a man walking on a highway near Heber City is dead after being struck by an oil tanker truck.
Utah Highway Patrol officials say the fatal accident occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 40 just north of Heber City.
They say a man walking in the travel lane near the right edge of the road and was struck by the semi-truck.
The Deseret News reports that the man was wearing dark clothing and was outside the city limits where there are no overhead streetlights.
Highway Patrol officials say the man wasn’t carrying identification and might have been a transient.
They say the truck driver was not injured and speed and impairment don’t seem to be factors in the accident.
