Plymouth Man Sentenced For Illegal Firearm Possession

April 20, 2018

SCRANTON — A Plymouth man was sentenced this week to serve more than three years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Donald Korus, 40, was sentenced to 45 months imprisonment Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani. Prosecutors say Korus illegally possessed a stolen handgun during an altercation outside his home on Oct. 2, 2015. Korus pointed the gun at two people who were outside his home to repossess a vehicle, prosecutors said. During the ensuing struggle, the gun went off, firing a single shot into the floor of the vehicle. Prosecutors say Korus got additional time behind bars because he lied at an evidentiary hearing. — JAMES HALPIN
