State police dispose of explosives found at auction property
WALLINGFORD, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police have safely disposed of commercial explosives found in a home that was up for auction.
The Rutland Herald reports the state police bomb squad collected a magazine from a Wallingford home Wednesday and completed a controlled burn. According to police, the magazine had dynamite and other commercial explosives.
State police were contacted earlier this month by an auction company employee who found the magazine at the Church Street property. Authorities later learned that the property’s former owner had held an explosives license.
Police didn’t release the address of the property or the former property owner’s name.
