Bearkats drop district game in quest for playoffs

Klein (5-4, 4-3) lost to Oak Ridge 56-35, last Friday, at Klein Memorial Stadium.The Bearkats are now tied for fourth place in District 15-6A with College Park heading into their regular season finale.Oak Ridge outscored Klein 22-0 in the second quarter and both teams scored 28 points in the second half.D’Anthony Simms scored on a 33-yard run in the first quarter.The Bearkats were down 28-7 at halftime.Tyson Thompson scored on a 39-yard pass from Bryce Corriston in the third quarter.In the fourth quarter, Omaric Battles scored on an 82-yard kickoff return and Corriston on a pair of 1-yard rushes.Corriston finished with 297 passing yards and Simms had 72 rushing yards.Klein faces College Park next Thursday, 7 p.m., at Woodforest Bank Stadium.In volleyball, the Bearkats beat MacArthur in bi-district play, Oct. 29, and beat Cy Ranch the following Friday in the area round.Klein ForestKlein Forest (1-8, 0-7) lost to Conroe 48-44, last Friday, at Moorhead Stadium.Delvin Jones’ 14-yard run and Christian Payne’s two-point conversion put Klein Forest on the board in the first quarter.In the second quarter, Jones scored on a 1-yard run and Myles Rhodes on a 2-yard run. Payne added another two-point conversion.In the third quarter, Rhodes scored on a 1-yard run and Crayg Fletcher on a 21-yard pass from Delvin.Rhodes scored on a 65-yard run in the fourth quarter before Conroe went on to score three touchdowns to secure the win.Klein Forest takes on The Woodlands next Thursday, 7 p.m., at Klein Memorial Stadium.Klein CollinsKlein Collins (9-1, 7-1) beat The Woodlands 21-17, last Friday, at Woodforest Bank Stadium.With the win Klein Collins clinches a share of the District 15-6A title and closes the regular season at 7-1 in district play.In volleyball, the Tigers beat Spring in bi-district play, Oct. 29, and beat Round Rock the following Friday in the area round.Klein CainKlein Cain (2-7, 1-6) lost to College Park 48-23, last Thursday, at Klein Memorial Stadium.Klein Cain will take on Klein Oak next Friday, 7 p.m., at Klein Memorial Stadium.Klein OakKlein Oak (7-2, 5-2) is coming off a bye-week.The Panthers face Klein Cain next Friday, 7 p.m., at Klein Memorial Stadium.Northland ChristianNorthland Christian (4-5, 3-1) beat John Paul II on forfeit, last Friday, at John Paul.Northland Christian faces The Woodlands Christian Academy, next Friday, 7 p.m., at Northland Christian.In volleyball, the Cougars beat Texas School for the Deaf in a playoff game, Nov. 3.Frassati CatholicFrassati Catholic (1-7, 1-4) lost to Bay Area Christian 68-13, last Friday, at Frassati Catholic.The Falcons close the regular season at 1-4 in TAPPS Division III District 4 play.alvaro.montano@chron.com
