Mike Gardner announces retirement
Mike Gardner is pleased to announce his retirement from the Blackfoot Fire Department.
His retirement is effective January 31, 2019 but we will celebrate January 5, 2019 at the Blackfoot Fire Department, 225 N Ash, Blackfoot, Idaho at 1 pm.
He began as a reserve in 1991 and was hired full time in 1992. He has worked as an EMT, Paramedic and Firefighter. He has made many friends in the Department and in the community over the years. He truly enjoys a camaraderie with the men and women in Law Enforcement in Bingham County and Blackfoot.
The best part of the job, he says, is that he gets to know and enjoy the people in the community and serve them.
Mike was born and raised in Blackfoot and has enjoyed being able to serve his hometown over the years. He also served in Vietnam and retired from the Navy Reserve. He will step down as Bingham County Coroner as well. He says he will miss the job but is looking forward to turning off his phone at night.
He has spent many years teaching EMS to students at Idaho State University, College of Eastern Idaho (formerly Eastern Idaho Technical College), Power County and beyond. His experience and expertise, and his enthusiasm for Emergency Medical Services has touched and affected countless lives over the years.
Mike and his wife, Kay have six children and fourteen grandchildren between them and they plan to spend as much time as possible spoiling all of them.
Please plan to join us to wish Mike well for the future.
