Project begins to extend Coalfields Expressway
BECKLEY, W.Va. — West Virginia officials say a project to extend the Coalfields Expressway is underway.
Gov. Jim Justice and other officials attended a groundbreaking ceremony in Raleigh County on Thursday for the project.
The project will extend the Coalfields Expressway 8.9 miles from Slab Fork to Mullens. Plans call for the entirety of the project to pass by Pineville, Welch and Bradshaw before entering Virginia.
