Falcons fall to Syracuse in Holiday final

January 1, 2018 GMT

ADAMS -- Freeman couldn’t continue the momentum they gained Friday night after dealing Falls City Sacred Heart its first loss.

On Saturday, the Falcons fell to Syracuse 45-37 in the Freeman Holiday Tournament Championship game.

Freeman struggled to find any offense early. They trailed 9-8 after the first quarter and only managed four points in the second quarter. They trailed 16-12 at the half.

Freeman’s offense finally came to life in the second half as they scored 13 points in the third quarter and led 25-24 entering the fourth quarter.

Syracuse outscored Freeman 21-12 in the final quarter, though, to get the 45-37 win.

Tyler Adams led the Falcons in scoring with 16 points while Tyler Yates was also in double figures with 12 points.

Logan Anderson had four points, Gabe Eisenbarth had three points and Blake Kastanek had two points for the Falcons.

Syracuse was led by Ben Nannen’s 21 points while Wil McCoy had 17 points. Nannen was 4 of 9 from the three point line while McCoy was a perfect 8 of 8 at the free throw line.

Freeman falls to 6-3 on the season and will be in action again on Tuesday when they travel to play Southern. They then host Pawnee City on Friday and host Friend on Saturday before the MUDECAS Basketball Tournament begins on Jan. 9.

With the win, Syracuse improves to 6-3 on the season.
