Camp Williams gets a new commander
CAMP WILLIAMS, Salt Lake County — The Utah Training Center, commonly known as Camp Williams, welcomed a new commander during a ceremony on June 28.
Lt. Col. David M. Price took over for Col. Tyler B. Smith, who has led the center since June 2014. Smith, of Saratoga Springs, is a Bronze Star recipient who deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2008.
Price, of American Fork, most recently served as the deputy chief of staff for construction and facilities management for the Utah National Guard Joint Forces Headquarters.
Price deployed as a battalion and company commander in support of Operation New Dawn and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and is a recipient of two Bronze Stars for his wartime service.
Price has a bachelor’s degree from Utah Valley State College in business management and a master of business administration from Utah State University. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army War College where he completed a fellowship at Queens University, Centre for International and Defense Policy, in Kingston, Ontario Canada.
