Man sentenced for sex assault on girl, 15, in ambulance
VISTA, Calif. (AP) — A man convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in an ambulance was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in a California prison.
David Carpio, 34, was sentenced after pleading guilty last year to groping the girl and to sexually assaulting another teenager outside of his job. He also must register as a sex offender.
Carpio was an emergency medical technician for a private ambulance company in 2017 when he kissed and fondled the 15-year-old as she was being taken to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, prosecutors said.
He also asked for her social media information and contacted her after the incident, according to a lawsuit filed by the girl’s family against two ambulance services that had employed Carpio.
He also assaulted another girl on several occasions several years earlier, prosecutors said.
Carpio was charged with rape and other sex crimes. He pleaded guilty last August to sexual penetration of one minor with a foreign object and sexual battery of the other.
