April 8, 2019

New London — A New London school employee arrested on Friday for alleged inappropriate behavior with an underage student is due to appear April 18 in New London Superior Court.

Corriche Gaskin, 34, of Groton, is charged with risk of injury to a minor in what police have called an ongoing investigation. He is free on $100,000 bond.

Court documents in the case are sealed and police have not released any details about the accusations against Gaskin. A school employee since 2015, Gaskin was working as a climate specialist handling peer mediation and behavioral support at Harbor Elementary School. The district placed him on paid leave last month.

He worked in a similar position at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle last year. Gaskin was convicted in 2011 of the federal drug-related crime – possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. The Day has requested information related to his hire by the school district.
