NYPD: Woman’s burnt body found in Staten Island woods
NEW YORK (AP) — Police in New York City are investigating the death of a 30-year-old woman whose burnt body was found in a wooded area of Staten Island.
Investigators say firefighters responded to the scene Sunday afternoon, where two teenagers reported finding the body behind a high school. The woman, identified as Yelena Rabkina, of Staten Island, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesman for the New York Police Department says the body was unclothed and partially decomposed. Police say the body had burn marks but was not on fire when police arrived.
The medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death. Police are continuing the investigation.
