Father dies after crash that claimed son’s life in Maine
PORTLAND, Manie (AP) — A crash that killed an 8-year-old Standish boy has now claimed the life of his father, while his mother remains hospitalized, Maine officials said Friday.
Vincent Oates, 51, died Thursday night at Maine Medical Center in Portland, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said. His son, Owen, died in the crash on Dec. 28 in Standish; the boy’s mother, Kerry Oates, 46, was seriously injured and remains hospitalized, officials said.
Also seriously injured in the crash was another driver, Danilo Warrick, 75, a custodian at the boy’s school.
Icy road conditions played a role in the three-car crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
