An early Monday morning traffic stop in Stanton County led to the arrest of a Norfolk man for driving while intoxicated.

Mark Ackerman, 49, has seven prior DWI convictions, said Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger.

The sheriff’s office stopped Ackerman for driving on the shoulder just after 2 a.m. on Highway 24, about two miles east of Norfolk.

Ackerman was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DWI, refusal of a preliminary and chemical test and open container of alcohol violation.

Unger said Ackerman has an initial court appearance scheduled for next month in Stanton County Court.
