Locals thrive in Indiana State Billiards event
Four area players excelled in the American Cue Sports Indiana State Billiard Championships at the Best Western Plus Hotel & Conference Center in La Porte last weekend. The locals battled some of the best pool players from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. In the team event, Adam Mrozinski and his team claimed the 8-ball team state championship and were awarded a paid trip to Las Vegas to play against the top teams in the country for a chance to win a national championship. Eleven-year-old Aiden Mrozinski and his partner, Jim Luben, finished second place in the scotch doubles 18-and-under event. In the 9-ball event, Mike Barger was crowned Indiana state 9-ball champion.
